I will explore the transformative power of building student agency through embracing identity and belonging. Drawing from my own journey as the daughter of immigrants, navigating financial and racial barriers while mastering English as a second language, I’ll share how these experiences have shaped my approach to education. We’ll delve into the critical role of technology and blended learning in creating inclusive environments that honor every student’s unique background. By integrating digital tools, we can tailor learning experiences that not only respect but celebrate diversity, fostering a sense of belonging and empowering students to own their educational journeys. This session aims to inspire educators to leverage their own stories and the potential of technology, including AI to build bridges, encourage self-expression, and elevate every student’s voice, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and capable of achieving their fullest potential.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I will address the critical issue of computer science equity. Drawing from my own narrative as a child of immigrants, confronting financial, racial, and linguistic hurdles, I aim to shed light on the disparity in computer science education and its broader implications for equity in tech. We will explore strategies for dismantling barriers to access and participation in computer science, emphasizing the role of culturally responsive pedagogy and inclusive curriculum design. By integrating real-world examples and leveraging my experiences, we’ll discuss how to inspire and engage underrepresented students in computer science, fostering an environment where every student, regardless of their background, can see themselves as future innovators and leaders in technology.
