I am proud of my Indian heritage and lost a lot of that through my schooling. I want to embrace my identity and empower others to feel the same
My name is Sonal Patel, and I am a keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, educator, and researcher. As the Program Manager for Computer Science and Digital Learning at a prominent California county office of education, my primary focus lies in building, planning, and facilitating equitable educational technology and Computer Science programs to ensure seamless implementation.
As an advocate for educational justice, I am passionate about integrating transformative culturally responsive practices into blended learning models. Through my professional learning workshops, I guide educators through meaningful experiences and personalized coaching sessions, allowing them to create engaging and inclusive learning environments.
I take immense pride in my ability to expand blended learning, witnessing the positive impact of the framework on educators and students alike. It fosters an environment that encourages active learning and engagement, laying the groundwork for a thriving educational experience.
My dedication to enhancing computer science education extends beyond my current role. I am honored to be a CSTA Equity Fellow, a co-founder of the California Inland Empire Computer Science Equity Network, a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator, and a member of Our Voice Alliance (OVA). In these capacities, I actively contribute to the ongoing pursuit of equity and accessibility in education.
In 2022, my efforts were recognized when I received ISTE’s 20 to Watch Award, an acknowledgment of my positive impact and potential as an emerging leader in the education community.
In March 2023, I had the privilege of being the keynote speaker for the CUE National conference, an event dedicated to helping educators enhance their skills and expand their professional network in the education technology space.
The culmination of my educational journey was in April 2023, when I achieved a significant milestone by graduating with my doctoral degree in Leadership for Educational Justice. This transformative experience equipped me with a profound understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities in education, empowering me to drive positive change.
Armed with my newfound knowledge and expertise, I am determined to champion the cause of equity and justice within the realms of education. My doctoral studies have provided me with a solid theoretical foundation and practical tools to advocate for underrepresented voices, ensuring that their needs are acknowledged and addressed.
Let’s work together!
Let’s create waves of change through education, where every ripple amplifies the call for justice and equity
